“What is a person profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul (or life, as some translations say)? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:25). This is a question everyone pursuing an education, a career, or the wealth of this world must ask? It is one thing to forfeit marriage, family, and friends and die a lonely, wealthy scrooge. It is quite another, yet similar, to get so wrapped up in trying to find life, and in so doing neglect the Word of God, the fellowship of Christian people, and the Divine Service in which God calls us to repentance and assures us of His forgiveness through Jesus Christ. That person will die in unbelief and lose his soul.
Jesus Christ willingly gave up His life on the cross so forgiveness now and the eternal treasures in heaven may be ours. Seek first this Kingdom (Matt. 6:33) with us at Peace Lutheran Church. Divine Service is at 9:00 a.m.
