“The Word of God is living and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12). Jesus Christ said, “The Words that I speak to your are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). God has promised, “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth: It shall not return to me void, but it will accomplish what I please, and It shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). So it was when God spoke, “Let there be” He called a world into existence (Genesis 1). So it was when Jesus took the hand of a dead child and said, “Little girl, I say to you, arise,” she arose and walked (Mark 5:41).
“The Word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the Word which by the Gospel was preached to you” (1 Peter 1:25). “The Gospel (the good news that all who believe that in Jesus Christ there is forgiveness of sins and eternal life) is the power of God to salvation” (Romans 1:16). That God so affirms the power of His Word should encourage every minister of the Gospel to faithfully preach that Word, whether the people want to hear it or not. It is a call for everyone to “hear the Word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28).
