“The borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7). The national debt, someone calculated, has increased more this past year than in all the years this country has been a nation. Has this nation’s greed for prosperity become so great that it is willing to become a “servant to the lender”? Is this nation really ready to barter its national sovereignty?
Words each debtor should heed at the beginning of another year are: “One’s life does not consist in the abundance a of the things which he possesses” (Luke 12:15). Life in all its fullness comes in knowing The Good Shepherd who laid down His life (John 10:9,10). “In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). Nothing compares to “Knowing Him and the power of His resurrection…and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness…which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith” (Philippians 3:9,10).
Join with the people of Peace Lutheran Church in humbly repenting of our greed for things and receive the true treasure of forgiveness and freedom through our Lord Jesus Christ. Sunday service time is 10:00 a.m.
